The need for improvement in achievement is massive. Here are some of the dismal data from the current methods of teaching math.

  • 1 in 100 African American teenagers demonstrate high-level problem solving (PISA test scores released 2014)
  • Those numbers are 1 in 17 for Latino teens, and 1 in 6 for white teens

The achievement gap between whites and Hispanics, and between whites and blacks has remained constant for thirty years:

4th grade White – Black

4th grade White – Hispanic

8th grade White – Black

8th grade White – Hispanic

12th grade White – Black

12th grade White – Hispanic

In international comparisons, the U.S. consistently scores in the middle of participating countries.

Our students and country need world-class math instruction!
